The Department of Mass Communication is among the premier institutions offering education and training in journalism and mass communication in India. The department's diversified curriculum covering Digital Journalism, TV News & Current Affairs Production, Film & Cultural Studies, Science & Health Communication, and Media and environment offers an edge to its students. Through its BA in journalism and mass communication program, the department has been conducting media and communication intellectual since 2011.Cameras, studio and Smart classrooms with LCD projectors and other latest teaching aids constitute the core of the department's teaching-learning facilities. The faculty of the department nurtures a broad range of academic and research pursuits to offer a spectrum of course choices to the students.

In order to choose any of the career option offered by Journalism and mass communication the students should have passed 10+2 level with any discipline. Students can further pursue Masters in journalism and mass communication and PhD Program. This is as regular course like other courses Students can also attend all kinds of competitive exams and other Master degree and teaching training etc. Jamshedpur Woman’s University offers BA in Journalism and mass communication course for 3 years semester wise full-time program. Eligibility for this course is 10+2 with minimum 45% marks.
