Professor Dr. Anjila Gupta, a renowned academician and administrator, has made significant contributions to the field of education and research. With a Master's degree in Economics and a gold medal for standing first in order of merit in M.A. (Economics) from her university, she has also qualified for Junior Research Fellowship/ Senior Research Fellowship conducted by the UGC . In the field of academics she possesses more than 37years of teaching and research experience. Starting her career as assistant professor in economics at state level university, she moved on to work at central university Bilaspur. Apart from working at both the state and central level universities, Dr. Gupta is likewise familiar with the functioning of open and distant learning institutes since she has given her valuable services to distant learning institutions like the prestigious Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi.

Currently acting as the founding Vice Chancellor of Jamshedpur Women’s University, Jamshedpur since 2022, Dr.Anjila Gupta has been instrumental in taking great initiatives for the newly created university in order to establish it as a place of prestige among the premiere institutes of higher learning in the state of Jharkhand. During her illustrious career, Dr. Gupta served as the Vice-Chancellor of Guru Ghansidas Central University, Bilaspur, Chattisgarh from 2015 to 2021, the only central university in the state.

She has been a member of the General Council, National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi, and a member of the Board of Governors at the Institute of Management, Raipur. Additionally, she held prestigious positions as the President's Nominee on the Executive Council of North East Hill University, Shillong, and the Executive Council of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak, MP. She was also nominated as the Visitor's Nominee for Sikkim University by the President of India in 2015 and served as the Honorable Governor's nominee on the Selection Committee of Vice-Chancellor, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Furthermore, she contributed as a member of the Research Council at Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. Acting as member of expert panel at prominent institutions like UGC, NAAC, and the UPSC Prof Anjila Gupta commands great respect in the field of academics and administration.

Dr. Gupta's academic achievements were complemented by fellowships and medals. She availed a fellowship from the India Council for Social Science Research for France in 2008 and received the prestigious Commonwealth Fellowship in 2003 for the United Kingdom awarded by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, Association of Commonwealth Universities, and London, United Kingdom.

As a committed professional, Dr. Anjila Gupta holds memberships in various esteemed organizations, including being a founder member of Mahakaushal Aarthik Parishad, Jabalpur (M.P.), and a life member of the Indian Economic Association, M.P Economic Association, and the Society of Tropical Forestry Scientists. Additionally, she holds a membership of the Academic Society in Economics, Jabalpur Madhya Pradesh.

Dr. Gupta's influence in the academic community is further evident through her participation in additional positions, including serving as a member of the Board of Governors (BOG) at IIM Raipur since 2016, a Collegium member for social science at Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) 2018 onwards, and a member of the expert committee at the prestigious Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR).
