About Department
The Department Of Zoology of Jamshedpur Women’s University has a long
glorious history. It was established in 1972. The student’s strength was less
than 100 at that time. Later on Honours and Post graduate courses were
introduced. In 2010 the department of Zoology Organised a National Seminar
on biodiversity and it’s Conservation, which was funded by University Grants
Commission. We also organized a workshop in 2010 on micro-technique for
M.Sc students.
Since 2022 the under graduation courses will follow the Four Years
Under Graduation Programme (FYUGP) as a recommended by the NEP 2020
with interdisciplinary and wide ranging courses content. The objective of
curriculum designed in the department is to expose its students to all branches
of disciplines.
Department of Zoology in Sidhgora Campus established for the
purpose of teaching and imparting practical knowledge to the post graduate
students with the help of smart classes and well equipped laboratories.
Vision
- The department promotes the discovery and broad knowledge about the biology of animals, Evolution and their environments.
- Students conduct field studies through projects in various aspects- such as fisheries, biodiversities, wildlife, aquaculture and sericulture.
- The holistic development of the students and make them able to contribute effectively for their welfare and society in this dynamic era.
Mission
- Our mission is to often high quality education dedicating mind with social and moral responsibility.
- To motivate the students for self-employment in various applied branch of Zoology.
- To learn new tools and techniques for professional research to acquire scientific temper.
